Prior to Russia's aggressive war, Ukraine's economy grew by 2.9% annually driven by SMEs, yet due to the conflict, GDP dropped by 35% in 2022, causing significant job losses and rising poverty rates. Despite this, Ukrainian SMEs demonstrated resilience, with a European Bank for Reconstruction and Development survey indicating stable business activity by late 2022. Immediate assistance is vital for Ukrainian SMEs to uphold the economy, counter unemployment and integrate them into reconstruction plans through access to finance.
