Innovating for Inclusion

March 9, 2015

MasterCard CEO Ajay Banga delivered a keynote address to the mobile community gathered in Barcelona for Mobile World Congress and helped this tech-oriented crowd connect the dots on the importance of financial inclusion in a brand new way. His comment, “We can’t have the Internet of Everything without the Inclusion of Everyone,” captures the notion that advances in technology have to deliver on the promise of a more empowered, inclusive planet where people – regardless of their current economic status – are able to build better more self-determined lives. That the risk of not addressing financial inclusion are profound.

He also focused on the need to move beyond silos and create meaningful partnerships – whether between different players within the private sector or between government and the private sector. These partnerships are the key to creating sustainable progress on financial inclusion and will be part of a broader discussion at the upcoming World Bank and IMF Spring Meeting in Washington, DC.
